Executive Chef - Jason Zhan

Having more than 20 years of expertise and specialization in Japanese sushi, Chef Jason is the owner chef of Sushi Shin.

Chef Jason is passionate about exploring and delving deep into different varieties of fish and seafood. In addition to traditional techniques and knowledge, he loves to explore and create new dishes to excite customers.

Chef Jason was trained under the master, Hideo Kuribara in Ushiwakamuru NY for traditional Edomae-Style Sushi. He then moved on to work at esteemed Michelin starred restaurants such as 15 East, Kappo Masa, O Ya, and finally returning to Ushiwakamuru NY. During his return to Ushiwakamuru NY in 2017, the restaurant earned one Michelin star.

“Shin” is a Japanese kanji means “Real, Genuine”, “New”, “Heart” and “Extend”. Chef Jason likes to do Authentic Japanese style with his New ideas. And he do it by Heart and hopefully Extend to the next level.

Chef Jason’s first own restaurant Sushi Shin Redwood City opened in January 2020. We thrive through the pandemic and earned One Michelin Star on September, 2021. We will continue to provide the best dining experience to our customers.
